Title: 4th Annua Celebrate Our Rising Stars Summit
Body: From: http://www.salemine.com/risingstars4 The Office of English Language Acquisition (OELA), U.S. Department of Education, will host the Fourth Annual Celebrate Our Rising Stars Summit, Wednesday to Friday, November 30–December 2, 2005, at the Hilton Washington Hotel in Washington, DC. The theme of the fourth OELA Summit is "From Essential Elements to Effective Practice." The Summit will feature interactive sessions with staff from the U.S. Department of Education, OELA, and the country's leading researchers and education practitioners. How ELLs achieve at the district and the classroom level will be examined, and the Summit focus will highlight classroom strategies that have demonstrated effectiveness and the systems surrounding the classroom that support these strategies and allow them to work well. The latest reading research findings will be presented by practitioners, including findings based on neuroscience. The Summit IV sessions will be targeted to the many and varied audiences who serve ELL students: Title III subgrantee administrators, teachers and other instructional personnel, researchers and parents, national, state and local policy makers and State Education Agencies (SEAs), Native Americans grant recipients, Foreign Language Assistance Program (FLAP) grantees, Professional Development NCLB grantees, and former Title VII professional development grantees. Title: Job Posting: Danish Examiner for International Baccalaureate Organization
Body: The International Baccalaureate Organization is currently seeking an experienced individual to take on the role of examiner responsible for the Danish B second language course. The International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO), aimed at 16-18 year olds, provides an international pre university curriculum and an international university entry qualification which gives access to higher education on a world-wide basis. The B programme is a foreign language learning programme designed for study at both higher and subsidiary levels by students with previous experience (between 2 and 5 years) of learning the language. The main focus on the programme is on language acquisition and development. The duties of the post of examiner responsible include the setting and marking of examinations and may involve occasional (paid) travel to the IB curriculum and assessment centre in Cardiff. Please note that this post does not involve relocation to an IB office; the duties of this post are normally carried out alongside other professional and academic commitments. Professionals of the following background are invited to apply: - Native (or fluent) speakers of Danish. - Degree in Danish. - Teaching experience. - Examining experience (desirable but not essential). The IBO is a non-profit educational foundation based in Switzerland; it is now represented in over 100 countries and in nearly 1,000 schools.
