Title: PBS Special: Migrant Workers - MAY 28
Body: NOW with Bill Moyers PBS Airdate: Friday, May 28, 2004 (check local listings at http://www.pbs.org/now/sched.html) The working poor of South Texas are surrounded by signs of prosperity: new houses, new malls, new construction. But the economic boom in the area is actually widening the gap between the wealthy and the working poor. The dream for many immigrant families of working hard, educating their kids, and moving up the economic ladder is becoming increasingly that, just a dream. On Friday, May 28, 2004 at 9 p.m. on PBS (check local listings), NOW with Bill Moyers takes viewers inside the hardscrabble world of two migrant families trying to break out. One is a family of migrant farm workers who are forced to choose between barely earning a living in the fields or educating their kids. The other is a grandmother who's starting her life over again after the factory where she worked shut down and moved to Mexico. NOW correspondent Michele Mitchell examines this unique cycle of poverty and looks at the potential outcomes of a public policy debate that may mean the difference for the nation's poorest workers. Villanueva, A. TV worth watching... (28 May 2004).

Title: Top 10 Intermediate French mistakes
Body: From: http://french.about.com/od/mistakes/a/intermediate.htm After learning French for a while, whether in a class or on your own, you've probably found that there are some things you just can't figure out how to say, or that people are always correcting you on. These may be issues that you haven't been taught yet, or concepts that you've studied but just don't get. As an intermediate French speaker, there is still plenty of time to fix these mistakes before they fossilize in your mind.

Title: Book: How to Use Corpora in Language Teaching
Body: Title: How to Use Corpora in Language Teaching Series Title: Studies in Corpus Linguistics 12 Publication Year: 2004 Publisher: John Benjamins http://www.benjamins.com/ http://www.benjamins.nl/ Book URL: http://www.benjamins.com/cgi-bin/t_bookview.cgi?bookid= SCL%2012 Editor: John McH. Sinclair Paperback: ISBN: 9027222835, Pages: viii, 308 pp., Price: EURO 36.00 Abstract: After decades of being overlooked, corpus evidence is becoming an important component of the teaching and learning of languages. Above all, the profession needs guidance in the practicalities of using corpora, interpreting the results and applying them to the problems and opportunities of the classroom. This book is intensely practical, written mainly by a new generation of language teachers who are acknowledged experts in central aspects of the discipline. It offers advice on what to do in the classroom, how to cope with teachers' queries about language, what corpora to use including learner corpora and spoken corpora and how to handle the variability of language; it reports on some current research and explains how the access software is constructed, including an opportunity for the practitioner to write small but useful programs; and it takes a look into the future of corpora in language teaching.
