Title: Summer Suggestions for AP Students
Body: The following suggestion was posted in reply to a request on the FLTEACH listserv for AP summer assignment ideas. It could also be useful for those looking to continue their language studies anytime class is not in session. ---- My AP students read two short stories, write a journal about 5 events during their summer vacation and finish three chapters in Cours Superieur. At our school all AP and Honors classes have summer assignments. We also have an all-school novel each summer that is used as a "theme" for the coming year. Krasucki, C. Re: AP summer work? Title: California School Districts Charge State with Poor Testing
Body: Ten California school districts charged the state this month with not providing the valid and reliable tests that would meet state laws on accurate testing practices. The districts want content tests to be provided in students' native languages so that language proficiency does not affect performance. Critics state that providing tests in all the represented languages would be costly, but 11 states are already using the native-language tests.
