Body: Concordia Language Villages urgently needs more summer staff for its Japanese language and culture immersion program! Of critical need are credentialed or experienced teachers of Japanese (to be hired as teachers) or advanced students in teacher certification programs (to serve as assistant teachers). We could use one to three individuals with start dates ranging from immediately to June 25 and an end date of July 17 or July 24. An additional one or two teachers or assistant teachers are needed July 17 though August 21 or 28. One or two male or female Japanese speakers could also be hired for similar contract dates as counselors. Native and non-native speakers of Japanese are eligible for all positions. Concordia Language Villages, in existence since 1961, provides residential language and culture immersion programming to 6,000 young people every summer, in 13 languages. Body: In an attempt to improve waning language skills, a south London school is embarking on an experimental project in which half of its students will be taught in French part of the time. Title: Denver Mayor Defends Public Library's Spanish-Language Services
Body: Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper assuaged concerns, voiced in a letter from U.S. Representative Tom Tancredo, that the city's library system is catering too much to Spanish speakers. Among the erroneous information corrected was that libraries would offer Spanish language classes, that only bilingual employees would be eligible for raises, and that a Spanish-only branch was in the works.
