Title: Call for Papers: 4th Chinese/English as a Second Language Conference
Body: From http://linguistlist.org/issues/19/19-3457.html 4th Chinese/English as a Second Language Conference Date: 16-May-2009 - 17-May-2009 Location: Taoyuan County, Taiwan We are inviting abstracts for 20 minute presentations (15 minutes plus 5 minute Q & A). Below are some suggested categories for topics, though submissions need not be limited to these. To maintain the C/ESL 2009 conference focus, however, the scope of topics is limited to Chinese or English as a Second Language (CSL or ESL) and to the language skills of reading and/or writing. Authors of the papers presented at C/ESL 2009 will be asked to submit a full paper after the conference for publication in a volume to be published by National Central University Press. Title: Call for Papers: Princeton Japanese Pedagogy Forum 2009
Body: The 16th Princeton Japanese Pedagogy Forum is scheduled for the weekend of May 2 and 3, 2009, on the Princeton University campus. The main theme of this forum will be "Learning Japanese and Japanese Culture Through Performing Drama." Performance here is meant to be performing a wide range of performances such as role plays, skits, simulations or dramas. The keynote speaker will be Professor Oriza Hirata, noted playwright and professor at Osaka University. Professor Hirata will also offer a workshop on drama on May 3. Papers are invited that are related to this main theme for both the pre-college and college levels, and for heritage Japanese language and cultural education. Any paper related to Japanese language education in general, including second language acquisition, linguistics, heritage learning, and cultural studies, among others, is also welcome. The submission deadline is Sunday, March 15, 2009. Accepted papers will be announced around March 30, 2009, and will appear in Proceedings. Title: NEH Summer Seminar On Celestina for College and University Teachers
Body: E. Michael Gerli will be conducting a National Endowment for The Humanities 2009 Summer Seminar for College and University Teachers, Celestina and the Threshold of Modernity, at the University of Virginia, Charlottesville (July 6-August 7, 2009). Celestina is the the late fifteenth-century Castilian work composed entirely in dialogue dealing with love, religion, prostitution, witchcraft, money, and death. Title: Job: Dean of the Arabic Language Village, Concordia Language Villages

The Arabic Language Village summer dean's position is a summer appointment of five weeks plus one week of orientation, in July and August; the site is located near Sandstone, Minn. Attendance is required at Village Leadership Council meetings during the academic year. The Dean of the Arabic Language Village reports to the summer programs director of Concordia Language Villages and to the summer programs administrative team as a whole. Concordia Language Villages is a program of Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota. The summer programs of Concordia Language Villages serve about 6000 young people ages 7-18 from all 50 of the United States and several other countries; families are participants in some summer one-week sessions. Language-centered, cultural immersion instruction is offered in 15 languages.
