Body: In December 2005, Michigan's State Board of Education approved several additions to the set of high school graduation requirements, including two credits of world languages. The Organising Committee invites proposals for presentations on any aspect of bilingualism in a Latin American context, or in other educational or research contexts which have a direct relationship with Latin America. The three central themes of the Second Symposium are: • Models, programmes and pedagogical practices in bilingual education. • Linguistic and educational policies for bilingual or multilingual education. • Teacher education and professional development in bilingual contexts.
