EUROCALL conferences bring together educators, researchers, administrators, materials developers, government representatives, vendors of hardware and software, and others interested in the field of CALL and TELL. EUROCALL 2008 particularly welcomes papers focusing on integrating new technologies into language learning. Presentations focusing on any other aspect of CALL research, development and practice are also welcomed, especially innovative uses both of established and of leading-edge technologies. Body: From http://www.colorado.edu/ealld/atj/Journal/public.html Call for Papers: Special Issue of Japanese Language and Literature: Japanese Pedagogy Editors: Seiichi Makino and Mutsuko Endo Hudson This special issue of Japanese Language and Literature will highlight various approaches to Japanese pedagogy. We welcome manuscripts that are research-based as well as those which are reports of applications of SLA theories and pedagogical frameworks in the classroom. Publication is scheduled for Fall 2008. The topics include, but are not restricted to, the teaching of language skills (i.e., listening, speaking, reading, writing, culture and an integration thereof), grammar, pragmatics/discourse, pronunciation, kanji, and other scripts, computer-enhanced language teaching, teaching with films or songs, and incorporating literature in a language class. Title: Call for Papers: German Studies Association Annual Conference
Body: The German Studies Association (GSA) will hold its Thirty-second Annual Conference in St. Paul, Minnesota, 2 October - 5 October 2008. The Program Committee cordially invites proposals on any aspect of German, Austrian, or Swiss Studies, including (but not limited to) history, Germanistik, film, art history, political science, musicology, sociology, and cultural studies. Proposals for entire sessions and for interdisciplinary presentations are strongly encouraged. Individual paper proposals and offers to serve as session moderator or commentator are also welcome. Programs of past GSA Conferences may be viewed at the GSA web site http://www.thegsa.org . Please see the GSA web site for information about the submission process, which opens on 5 January 2008 and note that ALL proposals must be submitted online; paper forms are not used. The deadline for proposals is 15 February 2008.

Title: Austrian Seminar - July 2008
Body: From http://www.aatg.org/content/view/452/1 A professional development seminar for teachers of German at the junior high, middle school and high school levels will be offered in Austria from July 6-19, 2008, with a focus on Austrian culture. The seminar is sponsored by the Austrian Federal Ministry of Education, Art and Culture, in cooperation with the AATG. The seminar, conducted in German, will take place in Vienna and Graz, and these cities will be used as springboard for thematic content. Selected themes focusing on Austrian culture will be presented, using various styles of methodology and pedagogy, specifically tailored for instructing students in these age groups. The seminar will include lectures, workshops and individual research. Themes include: Jung sein in Österreich und anderswo – ein interkultureller Vergleich; Wien und Graz – Stadterkundungen für junge Leute; Literatur für junge LeserInnen; Österreichische Musik im DaF-Unterricht; Das Österreichische Sprachdiplom Deutsch (ÖSD) für junge LernerInnen; Unterrichtskonzepte für Jugendliche: Theaterpädagogik, Soziales/Interkulturelles/ Globales Lernen; Aktuelle Landeskundematerialien aus Österreich für Jugendliche. Program costs, room and board, materials and a cultural program are included in the special seminar cost of $980 for AATG members, a substantial reduction from the normal cost. An additional subsidy from the Austrian Federal Ministry of European and International Affairs will be divided equally among AATG participants, further reducing the cost. The amount of the subsidy will be determined by the number of participants. Application deadline: February 1, 2008. All participants must be AATG members; participants are responsible for their own transportation to and from the seminar site. Body: What: Summer Latin Workshop at Dickinson College When: July 13-19, 2008 Where: Dickinson College, Carlisle, Pennsylvania, USA Application Deadline: May 1, 2008 Tuition: $300 (due June 4, 2008) Daily schedule will involve group translation and discussion of the entire extant works of Catullus.
