Body: From: ACTFL Dates: November 20-21, 2002 Faculty Development Programs/Houghton Mifflin Company, The International Association for Language Learning Technology and the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages present a special two-day workshop that brings together the technology expertise of IALLT with the hands-on tradition of ACTFL's instructional workshops. Intended for college and high school language educators, the workshop assists participants in the use of technology in the teaching of foreign languages within the framework of the national standards for foreign language learning. Topics will include 'Selecting Technology Resources,' 'Designing Activities with Technology,' 'Creating On-line Activities' and 'Integrating Tech-based Resources.' This hands-on 2-day workshop will be offered Wednesday and Thursday November 19 & 20 immediately preceding the ACTFL conference. The workshop cost is $295, which includes breakfast and lunch on both days and all materials. Levy, ACTFL Headquarters, Yonkers, NY; Eileen Glisan, Indiana University of PA; Helene Zimmer-Loew, AATG, Cherry Hill, NJ The purpose of this two-day workshop is to train prospective program reviewers for the new ACTFL/NCATE Program Standards for the Preparation of Foreign Language Teachers. Participants will become familiar with the Standards and will learn how to evaluate institutional program reports for evidence that the Standards have been achieved. They will engage in hands-on work in analyzing candidate performance evidence, required program components, and the program assessment system, as well as use program reviewer rubrics, in order to make program approval decisions and prepare the program reviewer report for submission to ACTFL and NCATE. This workshop is open only to those who have applied or plan to apply to be ACTFL/NCATE Program Reviewers. The application for program reviewers can be accessed at www.actfl.org.
