Title: Ideas for Celebrating Mardi Gras with Young Learners
Body: A recent request on the FLTEACH listserv for materials and ideas for celebrating Mardi Gras with elementary students of French received the following suggestions. ---- Have you looked at momes.net? They have some information/activities for Carnaval. You could make masks (and talk about colors) and have a parade through the school. The class could make a bonhomme carnaval together (although I guess you probably wouldn't want to burn it!). You could use the bonhomme to review body parts and/or colors. If allergies aren't an issue, you could bring in a galette des rois and crown a king and/or queen to lead your parade. Harrington, C. Re: Mardi Gras for second grade. Title: Recommended News Source
Body: I was sorry to lose CNN en espanol as a source, but perhaps there is something better: http://www.news.google.com . If you scroll to the bottom, there is a choice of Argentina, Espana, Chile and Mexico among Spanish-speaking countries, both France and Canada Francais, Deutschland, Italia, and others. I think I might be spending some time here, looking for readings for my classes, and also articles to keep my own Spanish current. CRS. Google news in other languages.
