Title: Ideas for Recruiting New Students of German
Body: Recently a teacher of German posted a question to the AATG listserv regarding how to pique high school students' interest in taking German. These suggestions might be useful for teachers of various levels of German classes who are trying to increase enrollment and/or motivation. ---- Why German is for You from the AATG (http://aatg.org) is kind of corny but I use it in sixth grade. It is good fodder for discussion and the kids laugh! Charlton, C. Re: [AATG-L] Why learn German - video. American Association of Teachers of German listserv. AATG@listserv.iupui.edu (13 Jan. 2006). ---- You may want to check out the video clip "German Rocks" on the STEP INTO GERMAN site. http://www.stepintogerman.org Zygowski, P. Title: Solve a Mystery with Your Students
Body: The following website has proven useful in French 4/AP. It offers a "crime" to solve, character description, listening exercises, verb practice and cloze activities-all at the level desired: from beginner to advanced. I have just started to use it in my combo 4/ap class as something different yet useful after exams, and so far it's been a hit. The "classe" activities offer suggestions for writing and speaking expansion. Check it out; it was developed by a couple in Switzerland. http://www.polarfle.com Williams, C. Great site.
