Title: Book: Data and Argumentation in Historical Pragmatics: Grammaticalization of a Catalan Motion Verb Construction
Body:

From: https://linguistlist.org/issues/30/30-3829.html

This book aims to analyze semantic change in the grammaticalization of medieval Catalan and to investigate it from a historical and pragmatic perspective. For example, the “anar ‘go’ + infinitive” construction in Catalan is unique in how a purposive construction involving a motion verb achieves a perfective past meaning. This book would be interesting to those looking at shifts in languages or those wishing to know more about the history of Catalan.

The program will send juniors to the Dominican Republic where they will have the opportunity to put their Spanish language skills into use. By creating an independent high school, Thrival hopes to foster a program that makes study abroad a seamless and natural part of a secondary education.

Title: “Zombie Bill” to Replace World Language with Computer Coding Resurrected in Michigan
Body:

From: https://www.languagepolicy.org/post/zombie-bill-to-replace-world-languages-with-computer-coding-resurrected-in-michigan

This September, a bill resurrected in the Michigan House of Representatives would redefine language to include computer coding for high school students for completing the state’s language requirements. Opponents to this bill say that while coding is an important and useful skill, it does not hold the same function as learning a foreign language. Further, colleges and universities do not accept coding as a foreign language, and students would face road-blocks on their entrance into these institutions. This article is pertinent to the ever-changing perceptions of the value of foreign language learning.
