This book aims to analyze semantic change in the grammaticalization of medieval Catalan and to investigate it from a historical and pragmatic perspective. For example, the “anar ‘go’ + infinitive” construction in Catalan is unique in how a purposive construction involving a motion verb achieves a perfective past meaning. This book would be interesting to those looking at shifts in languages or those wishing to know more about the history of Catalan.
