Title: Should You Use Bilingual Books with English and Japanese Side by Side?
Body:

From: https://japaneselevelup.com/bilingual-books-english-japanese-side/

Bilingual books (books with an L1 on one side and target language on the other) are popularly viewed as a useful way to learn how to read in a target language. This article, however, argues that the translations are not going to be direct from one language to the other, leading to discrepancies in understanding and potentially incorrect definitions. While the author does not give a definitive “no” to using bilingual books, he cautions that learners do so by reading the entire English version first and then the Japanese version (or vice versa) to help understand the gist of the story and prevent getting lost in a sea of new language.

Many have not yet been fully catalogued, but a finding aid and more can be accessed through the Asian Division’s Ask-a-Librarian online inquiry form.
