Body

From: https://blogs.loc.gov/international-collections/2019/10/tai-manuscripts-in-the-southeast-asian-rare-book-collection/

The Tai language family (including Thai, Lao, and Shan) is represented in over one hundred manuscripts and early books in the Asian Division’s Southeast Asian rare book collection. These manuscripts document a centuries-old literature culture not well known to the West. Many have not yet been fully catalogued, but a finding aid and more can be accessed through the Asian Division’s Ask-a-Librarian online inquiry form. This article itself is a useful tool for teaching cultural and historical knowledge in the classroom.
