Title: Pedagogy: Theory and Online Application
Body: From: http://www.nyucolp.org/pedagogy.shtml The pedogogical concepts and theories used in traditional education apply to online education as well. We've developed a tool to graphically navigate the complex relationships between schools of thought, theorists, theories and concepts. The exploration covers Behaviorist, Cognitivist and Constructivist Schools of thought. It includes a comprehensive list of theorists from Piaget to Guilford, theories including Metacognition and Andragogy and concepts such as Scaffolding and Learner Centered Education. Our Interactive Exploration of Pedagogical Concepts & Theories visually demonstrates how educational theory has developed over time and how the concepts involved relate to one another. The Interactive Exploration allows you to explore your own theoretical and practical interests, and perhaps discover some new ones.

Title: National French Test changes
Body: The test booklets for 2004 are being graded right now. What makes this year's Grand Concours different from previous years? CDs were used instead of cassettes. Levels 01, 1, and 2 had 70 questions. Levels 3, 4, and 5 had 60 questions. (There were previously 80 at all levels.) The sound discrimination "chien, sien, tien, bien" were removed in levels 01 and 1. In order to offer more context to the students during the audio assessment, the format of the rejoinders were a mini conversation. All culture questions at end of assessments were deleted, and grammar and vocabulary were assessed in context. More culture will be infused in the readings. If your students took the Grand Concours National French Assessment and you would like to comment on the test, please email your observations to the InterCom Editor at langsub@darkwing.uoregon.edu Please use "National French Test Response" as your subject heading. The Editor will compile all replies for a future posting to InterCom.

Title: Website of the Week: Homework Help with links to 6 languages
Body: NOTE: Do you have a favorite Website, commercial or otherwise, related to foreign language learning? If you want to let others know about it, write to langsub@darkwing.uoregon.edu with a short review of the best features of the site. This Week's site: http://home.about.com/homework/ Reviewed by: Greg Hopper-Moore I only browsed the French site in depth, but this site looks promising as a broad-based resource for students and teachersin the following languages: ESL, French, German, Italian, Japanese, and Spanish. The French page includes the word of the day, quote of the day, cultural articles, a link to the Top 10 Beginning French Mistakes, French Gestures, and much more. I get the idea that there are new articles posted daily! Particularly interesting in the Japanese section was a link to the Kanji of the Week, as well as Kanji for Tattoos! The Spanish Language site is featuring an article on using the "personal a" and one on the different verbs meaning "to know." And the German page features a "Goethe verse for beginners." This site warrants a visit, if for nothing else than to refresh the mind.
