Title: Score with German: Soccer and German
Body: From http://scorewithgerman.org/about-us/who-we-are/ Score with German is based on the award-winning “Double Club”, a joint project by one of Europe’s top soccer clubs, Arsenal FC, and the Goethe-Institut. The Goethe-Institut and the AATG have developed grammar and vocabulary exercises, video clips and podcasts that focus entirely on the world of soccer and capture the imagination of young language learners. German teachers and students worldwide can now turn to the webportal “Sprechen Sie Fußball?” where soccer-related teaching materials are made available and constantly updated. These teaching materials form the basis of the German language curriculum for our German&Soccer summer camps. In these camps (with both residential and day options) student-athletes will learn German the fun way while at the same time improving their soccer skills. The organizers are planning on expanding their camps to regions outside of California in the summer of 2011. Learn more about the Score with German program and browse the available resources at http://scorewithgerman.org

Title: Article: RTI Said to Pay Off in Gains for English-Learners
Body: From http://www.edweek.org/ew/articles/2010/01/22/19rtiells_ep.h29.html?tkn=W[YCLqVUfF0pqicVwkwTVkZdlSyTBmx7rRRb RTI Said to Pay Off in Gains for English-Learners By Mary Ann Zehr January 22, 2010 Fernando Lugo and Hector Martinez are only in 1st grade, but already educators at Lilian J. Rice Elementary School have mapped out different instructional paths for them. Educators here in the Chula Vista Elementary School District determined what kind of instruction the English-language learners needed through a “response to intervention” process, which provides extra help to struggling students with an aim of reducing the number of referrals to special education. As RTI catches on throughout the country, the district is on the cutting edge in its focus on how the approach applies to English-language learners, who make up 36 percent of the K-6 district’s 27,450 students.
