Title: English Language Learners Use iPods
Body: From http://herald-zeitung.com/story.lasso?ewcd=2a65d5db9b7e230f iPod: Hi-tech tutor Eric J. Weilbacher December 6, 2009 The iPod Touch is increasingly seen at schools in the Comal Independent School District, where it is used for its educational, interactive potential rather than for entertainment. Audio books, video, mathematic games and other applications are available for students that need a personal touch to aid their learning outside the classroom. Every ESL student in the five CISD middle schools has an iPod Touch on loan, provided by the iPod Project, part of the bond approved by taxpayers in 2008. Every morning, ESL students check in the devices to their teachers, who then download and listen to their students’ recordings, providing a tangible example of their progress learning English. “I have one student that’s really shy. This way, I can hear him. I was in tears the first time (I heard his recordings),” said Consuelo Schmitt, an ESL teacher at Smithson Valley Middle School. “I can see that it’s really working. I know at the end of the year, we are going to be really surprised (by test results).” Read the full article at http://herald-zeitung.com/story.lasso?ewcd=2a65d5db9b7e230f
