The First District Court of Appeal in San Francisco rejected arguments by bilingual-education groups and nine school districts that English-only exams violate a federal law's requirement that limited-English-speaking students "shall be assessed in a valid and reliable manner." Title: Japanese Language Proficiency Test
Body: From http://www.jflalc.org/index.php?act=tpt&id=8 The Japan Foundation and the Association of International Education, Japan have devised the Japanese-Language Proficiency Test and administered it since 1984 both in Japan and abroad. The 2009 JLPT will be held on Sunday, December 6th, 2009. The registration period for the 2009 JLPT will start on Monday, August 3rd, 2009 at 10AM Pacific Time and end on Friday, September 25th, 2009 at 5PM Pacific Time. Title: The Berlin Wall: Live at the Newseum on August 10

At the height of the Cold War, the communist East German regime surprised the world be sealing off the border to West Berlin in the early morning hours of August 13, 1961. In a joint effort by the German Embassy, Deutsche Welle TV, the Bertelsmann Foundation, the BMW Foundation and the Newseum, this presentation is the first of a three part series to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall. The panelist will include: Professor Richard Smyser, former U.S. diplomat and author of the recently published book Kennedy and the Wall: " A hell of a lot better than a War," Colonel Verner Oike, commanding U.S. officer at Check Point Charlie on August 13, 1961, and Kalus M. von Keussler, who witnessed the event as a student, and assisted East Germans to escape into the West.
