Body: From http://www.reznetnews.org/article/school-immerses-kids-arapaho-language-33410 School Immerses Kids in Arapaho Language By Martin Reed May 14, 2009 The Northern Arapaho Tribe is facing a crisis because of a lack of its members learning how to speak the native language. But with the Northern Arapaho Language Immersion School opening last October near Arapahoe, the tribe hopes to turn the tide. "I never talk English to them," Shakespeare, 73, said about the children. Read the full article at http://www.reznetnews.org/article/school-immerses-kids-arapaho-language-33410 .

Title: Article: Happy 60th Birthday to the Federal Republic of Germany
Body: From http://www.germany.info Germany is celebrating two major anniversaries in 2009. Sixty years ago, the promulgation of the Basic Law represented the birth of the Federal Republic of Germany. Twenty years ago, in November, the Berlin Wall came down. These historical turning points mark a period spanning from the economic miracle in post-war Germany to the end of the Cold War in 1989. Title: Editorial: Et Tu, College Board?
Body: From http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2009/05/13/AR2009051303254.html Et Tu, College Board? By Jane Miriam Epperson Brinley Thursday, May 14, 2009 Across the nation, Latin programs are changing because the College Board announced last spring that while it would continue the other Latin AP exam, which covers Virgil, May 2009 would be the last time it offered the Latin lit exam, which covers Cicero and four lyric poets. While specific figures are not yet available, it seems likely that this decision by the testing giant will lead to significant enrollment declines and reduced course offerings across the country. Title: Exhibit: Pompeii and the Roman Villa: Art and Culture around the Bay of Naples
Body: From http://www.lacma.org/art/exhibition/pompeii2/Pompeii%20and%20the%20Roman%20Villa.html Pompeii and the Roman Villa: Art and Culture around the Bay of Naples Installation Slideshow May 3-October 4, 2009 Los Angeles County Museum of Art “Pompeii and the Roman Villa is a well-considered, beautifully installed examination of elite Roman taste roughly two millenniums ago, as manifest in the country houses of powerful nobles along the Neapolitan coastline . . . a large but not exhausting study of one culture absorbing and remaking the artistic legacy of another, to suit its own social purposes. Rome had vanquished Greece in the sack of Corinth in 146 BC, but the Romans didn't denigrate Greek art as something foreign and inferior. Instead, they regarded it as magnificent, something worth emulating and, if possible, enhancing—a sign of Rome's own much greater power and glory in having triumphed over a major civilization.”—Christopher Knight, Los Angeles Times, May 8, 2009.
