Title: Article: Using Color and Shape Coding to Teach Sentence Structure in Chinese
Body: Title: Using color and shape coding to teach sentence structure in Chinese Author: Xiaohong Yang Overview: How can a foreign language teacher help students with learning disabilities learn the language successfully? According to some research, using multisensory instruction may be an important tool for reaching these to at-risk foreign language students. Because learning disabilities are often due to certain kinds of processing deficiencies, it is often necessary to use multisensory instruction when working with students with learning disabilities (LD), so that they can learn through other cognitive pathways than those of conventional instruction which they cannot access effectively. The purpose of this study is to apply such principles to activities for helping LD students learn grammatical features, such as sentence structure in Mandarin Chinese, and to provide a detailed example of one such activity. The article is available in PDF Format at http://www.american.edu/tesol/wpyang.pdf .

Title: GreekStudy: Listservs for Ancient Greek Study
Body: From http://www.quasillum.com/study/greekstudy.php GreekStudy is an open mailing list dedicated to the study of ancient Greek, including the Homeric, Classical (Attic & Ionic), and Biblical (Koine) dialects. The GreekStudy list is shared by multiple study groups. There are typically several levels of beginner groups as well as advanced groups translating passages from, say, Xenophon or Plato. A coordinator sets the group's agenda, then collects and collates assignments. These collations, or side-by-side listings of each group member's answers or translations, are posted directly to the list for discussion. Most questions are answered by the other list members, not necessarily those in your study group. More information and subscription available at http://www.quasillum.com/study/greekstudy.php .
