The following survey is part of that development effort to gather information concerning the entry-level foreign-language teacher’s job. Body: For teachers of young (or young-at-heart) learners of French, here is a translation of the children's song, "There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly," courtesy of French teachers on the FLTEACH listserv. ---- One of the interns in the summer teaching lab I do for Pitt came up with this story-telling activity for "There was an old lady who swallowed a fly" (I don't know why she swallowed the fly -- perhaps she'll die). She had some great pictures to go along with it, but I wanted feedback on the language part. Neither the intern nor I are native speakers and I thought it would be good to get comments from native or non-native speakers on the wording and general feel of the story. === La Vieille Qui a Mangé La Mouche Il y avait une vieille qui a mangé une mouche. Pourquoi une mouche? Est-elle louche? Peut-etre-t-elle aura une mort douce… Il y avait une vieille qui a mangé une araignée. Une araignée qui touillait et grouillait et fouillait dans la bidouille. Elle a mangé l'araignée pour attraper la mouche. Pourquoi une mouche? Peut-etre-t-elle aura une mort douce… Il y avait une vieille qui a mangé un oiseau. Un oiseau! Body: Today I launched a new website called: Learn Spanish http://www.learn-spanish.co.il Learn Spanish is a free, on-line, educational resource to learn Spanish words. The flash site incorporates 40 topics, along with over 1,400 Spanish words and phrases. When you click on a word or phrase you can hear it spoken. The high quality audio was created in a sound studio. The site is multilingual. The menus are in Spanish and English.
