Title: Spanish Poems for Graduating Seniors
Body: A recent request on the FLTEACH listserv for Spanish-language poems that might be appropriate on gifts to graduating seniors received several suggestions. These might be useful for a variety of similar occasions. ---- Sometimes I make a copy of the Borges poem "Instantes" and give it to special seniors. Lilles, L. Re: quote for senior gifts. Foreign Language Teaching Forum listserv. FLTEACH@LISTSERV.BUFFALO.EDU (9 May 2006). ---- One of my favorite Spanish professors gave us this poem on a class picture. I pulled it off the Web, so it's worth double checking the words and citation. Caminante, no hay camino Caminante, no hay camino, se hace camino al andar. Al andar se hace el camino, y al volver la vista atrás se ve la senda que nunca se ha de volver a pisar. Here is an Internet translation from http://www.unhooked.com/poetry/caminante.htm Walker, there is no road Walker, there is no road. The road is made as you walk. As you walk the road is made and when you look behind you you see the trail you will never step on again. Antonio Machado (Spanish, 1875-1939) Sragovics, L. Caminante or Juventud...: Re: quote for senior gifts. Foreign Language Teaching Forum listserv. FLTEACH@LISTSERV.BUFFALO.EDU (9 May 2006).

Title: Finals Review Idea
Body: A recent request to the FLTEACH listserv for good final review activities received several interesting suggestions. Here is one; look for more of these in the coming weeks. ---- The absolute best review that the savvy Dr. Freeman at our school gave me is a 2-day review. Day 1 - Ask the students what types of worksheets or tests we have utilized (fill-in-the-blanks, multiple choice, word scramble, crossword puzzles). Write these on the board. - Make a deck of cards with the chapters in the book you have covered this year. Have each student pull a card. - Voilà! They are writing a review sheet for that chapter. They need to print their name on their review sheet. - Collect the review sheets. Day 2: Run a mega-packet copy for each student (this does NOT work if you have restrictions on the number of copies you can make.) Hand out the packets and have students work on it. If they have questions, they go to the author! I can take NO credit for this. My esteemed colleague shared it. Lutes, A. Re: finals review. Foreign Language Teaching Forum listserv. Title: Wanted: Participants in Survey about Online and Computer-Assisted Language Learning
Body: From http://covcell.org/q/T02/survey_en.php Teachers' Survey Moodle for Language Teaching A survey of language teachers' needs. The COVCELL (Cohort-Oriented Virtual Campus for Enhanced Language Learning ) project is a 2-year European project (Minerva fund) dedicated to enhancing the language learning/teaching functionalities available within the learning management system, Moodle. Many exciting developments are currently underway in the field of online and computer-assisted learning - and in the development of Moodle in particular - but we wish to see that the needs of language teachers and learners are not forgotten and that attention is given to their specific needs. We are running this survey to give the wider language education community the chance to express their views on computer-assisted language learning and the results of this survey will form an important part of our submission to the European Union on the project´s completion. It will also influence our own regularly updated programming goals and priorities (we have an "agile development" approach to programming which means that code is regularly assessed against user needs and feedback). We do hope that you will be able to spare a moment to support us and give us your views. Many thanks! Complete this survey at http://covcell.org/q/T02.html .
