TitleSpanish Poems for Graduating Seniors
Body
A recent request on the FLTEACH listserv for Spanish-language poems that might be appropriate on gifts to graduating seniors received several suggestions. These might be useful for a variety of similar occasions.

----

Sometimes I make a copy of the Borges poem "Instantes" and give it to special seniors.

One of my favorite Spanish professors gave us this poem on a class picture. I pulled it off the Web, so it's worth double checking the words and citation.

Caminante, no hay camino
Caminante, no hay camino,
se hace camino al andar.
Al andar se hace el camino,
y al volver la vista atrĂ¡s
se ve la senda que nunca
se ha de volver a pisar.

Here is an Internet translation from http://www.unhooked.com/poetry/caminante.htm

Walker, there is no road
Walker, there is no road.
The road is made as you walk.
As you walk the road is made
and when you look behind you
you see the trail
you will never step on again.
Antonio Machado (Spanish, 1875-1939)
