Title: Georgia Schools Losing Foreign Language Classes
Body: As class sizes are reduced to meet state requirements, the number of foreign language classes in Georgia public schools is also shrinking in response to budget cuts. While Atlanta has been able to retain some French and Spanish courses at the elementary level, other districts consider themselves lucky to offer foreign languages in one school. Title: Three-Tier Curriculum Considered in India
Body: From http://www.newkerala.com/news2.php?action=fullnews&id=57136 Bangalore: Karnataka government is considering introducing a "three-tier" language formula, including compulsory teaching of Kannada, in primary schools, Primary and Secondary Education Minister Basavaraj Horatti said today. Teaching English from standard one in all schools and Kannada as a compulsory subject from standard three in all linguistic schools were also being considered, Horatti told reporters here. Horatti said compulsory teaching of Kannada was being considered to be implemented in all English schools started after 1994. He, however, added that the formula would have to be approved by the cabinet and if so, it would be implemented from the next academic year. Horatti also said an ordinance would be issued to streamline appointment and transfer of teachers.

If so, I would appreciate any information you can share with me about them. Which languages are offered? What is the time frame? How do students as well as their parents respond to such programs?
