Title: Quick Activity Idea: French Movie Title Quiz
Body: Since I have a REALLY short (20 min) class tomorrow due to an inservice, and we're doing a film unit, I went online to Allociné and looked at movies either just out, or about to come out in France, and made the following guessing sheet: GUESS WHAT THESE MOVIES ARE: 1. En bonne compagnie 2. J’adore Huckabees 3. Otage 4. Le vol du Phoenix 5. Ella au pays enchanté 6. La revanche des Sith 7. Présentateur vedette: la légende de Ron Burgundy 8. Fashion maman 9. La maison de cire 10. L’interprète 11. Baby-sittor 12. Sa mère ou moi Answers: In Good Company, I Heart Huckabees, Hostage, The Flight of the Phoenix, Ella Enchanted, the new Star Wars, Anchorman, Raising Helen, House of Wax, The Interpreter, The Pacifier, Monster-in-law MANY other movie titles stay the same: Guess Who, Kingdom of Heaven, XXX2, Last Days, Saved And yes, #11 is spelled correctly...I think they've tried to combine Predator and baby-sitter or something like that....It's the Vin Diesel as security guard for kids movie. Title: German Online Picture Dictionary
Body: http://www.washjeff.edu/capl The free online picture dictionary CAPL has reached 2,000 entries thanks to the support of German teachers around the world. Particular thanks go to Dr. Nikhil Sathe who contributed his images and expertise to expand the Austrian section of CAPL. Also thanks to Lizz Caplan-Carbin for being one of the first to send in a large number of submissions. All images in CAPL are organized by topic, searchable, of very high quality, and 100% license free for educational use. The authentic pictures are all taken in German speaking countries, are not staged photos, and reflect a wide variety of objects and places. If you have any digital image collections and are willing to share with the world, feel free to contact me. We would love to have more regional diversity, images from Switzerland, the northern parts of Germany and small town images. We would also like to expand basic school vocabulary and have image collections related to sporting events and clubs. While this project works best at the elementary level in the German classroom, there are applications at the advanced levels as well. If you have any ideas for future expansion, usage tips, or see a typo, just send an email to capl@washjeff.edu Thanks for your support and I hope to be able to bring more public-domain electronic resources to the German teaching community in the future.
