Title: American Indian Language Development Institute Summer Program
Body:

From http://aildi.arizona.edu/2014-program

American Indian Language Development Institute
Language, Landscape and Lifeways
June 2- July 3, 2014

For Indigenous people, language is the key to local knowledge about land and lifeways. Language is what allows for full participation with the natural world. Recent global concerns related to climate change, sustaining natural resources and other ecological issues has highlighted the importance of accessing and understanding traditional Indigenous knowledge. Using traditional cultural and ecological knowledge to teach language is the focus for AILDI 2014. Culture and place based curriculum, Indigenous geography, spirituality in language, language documentation with a focus on biodiversity, and language immersion in the home are some of the AILDI 2014 course topics.

Title: Discussion of Olympic Coverage for Your Russian Classroom
Body:

From http://www.sras.org

From the February 2014 School of Russian and Asian Studies newsletter:

“The main news this month is the Olympics and most of that news has been negative. The viral images and abundance of critical stories has led several long-term Russia watchers, many themselves perennial critics of Russia's government, to publish criticism against the predominant media coverage. For those interested in hosting classroom discussions on this issue, we've collected some of the best of these articles from the minority position below. We hope this will contribute to an informed, well-rounded debate on the achievements and shortcomings of Russia and the Olympic games it is hosting.”
