Title: Free Lesson Plan about Gratitude
Body:

From http://elt-resourceful.com

Here’s a lesson from the elt-resourceful website:

A free downloadable lesson, based around an authentic video. Research shows that feeling grateful for what we have and the people in our lives is a key factor in feeling happy. The video shows a group of people carrying out a task designed to increase their happiness in this way.

The lesson starts with a short text to introduce the topic and get the students thinking about how people recognize and celebrate gratitude in their cultures. It then moves onto the video, where students watch two people visiting a friend and reading aloud a letter they have written, thanking them for what they have done. There is some focus on vocabulary, and some useful phrases that students could use themselves to say thank you. Finally, the students are asked to write their own thank you letter, which they may or may not choose to actually deliver.

This lesson is available at http://elt-resourceful.com/2014/01/27/gratitude-a-free-downloadable-lesson

Title: Book: Research Methods in Second Language Psycholinguistics
Body:

From http://www.routledge.com/books/details/9780415518260

Research Methods in Second Language Psycholinguistics
By Jill Jegerski and Bill VanPatten
Published by Routledge

Addressing a rapidly growing interest in second language research, this hands-on text provides students and researchers with the means to understand and use current methods in psycholinguistics. With a focus on the actual methods, designs, and techniques used in psycholinguistics research as they are applied to second language learners, this book offers the practical guidance readers need to determine which method is the best for what they wish to investigate as well as the tools that will enhance their research.

Each methods chapter is written by a leading expert who describes, discusses, and comments on how a method is used and what its strengths and limitations are for second language research. These chapters follow a specific format to ensure cohesion and a predictable structure across all chapters. The chapters also inform the novice researcher on such key issues as ease of use, costs, potential pitfalls, and other related matters, each of which impact decisions that researchers make about the paths they take.

Title: Book: Contemporary Approaches to Second Language Acquisition
Body:

From https://benjamins.com/#catalog/books/aals.9/main

Contemporary Approaches to Second Language Acquisition
Edited by María del Pilar García Mayo, María Junkal Gutierrez Mangado and María Martínez Adrián
Published by the John Benjamins Publishing Company

Second language acquisition (SLA) is a field of inquiry that has increased in importance since the 1960s. Currently, researchers adopt multiple perspectives in the analysis of learner language, all of them providing different but complementary answers to the understanding of oral and written data produced by young and older learners in different settings. The main goal of this volume is to provide the reader with updated reviews of the major contemporary approaches to SLA, the research carried out within them and, wherever appropriate, the implications and/or applications for theory, research and pedagogy that might derive from the available empirical evidence. The book is intended for SLA researchers as well as for graduate (MA, Ph.D.) students in SLA research, applied linguistics and linguistics, as the different chapters will be a guide in their research within the approaches presented. The volume will also be of interest to professionals from other fields interested in the SLA process and the different explanations that have been put forward to account for it.
