---
KoPrA: Kompetenzentwicklung der Kommunikationsstrategien, Präsentationstechniken und Aussprachetraining: Deutsch als Fremdsprache in Theorie und Praxis
July 6–August 2, 2014 in Leipzig
Designed for K-16 teachers and pre-service teachers with Intermediate High proficiency, this special four-week immersion experience at the Herder-Institut at the University of Leipzig will focus on developing proficiencies to meet Advanced Low teacher certification requirements. The seminar will explore development of language proficiencies, communication strategies, and presentation techniques. Performance measurement, evaluation of oral skills, and methodology for teaching German as a foreign language will also be included. Intercultural interaction and knowledge of daily life in Germany are other important components of the seminar. The seminar will be conducted in German. Deadline for application is March 1, 2014.
---
Austrian Seminar: Klischee und Vorurteil
July 7–19, 2014, in Salzburg
The Austrians are known to be very musical—they love to sing and yodel—and passionately waltz. They wear Dirndl and Lederhosen, eat scrumptious sweets, and live in the mountains where they gracefully ski perfectly groomed slopes.
This two-week seminar in Salzburg will offer K-16 teachers the opportunity to identify, explore and analyze the many clichés and stereotypes about Austria. Participants will look at language, literature, music, and film to develop a deeper, more sophisticated understanding of Austria and Austrian culture—with a focus on how to bring Austria to the American classroom. The seminar will be conducted in German. Deadline for application is March 1, 2014.

Title: Just Add German: New Campaign To Learn German
Body:
From http://www.justaddgerman.org/about-us
Just Add German is a campaign of the Goethe-Institut and the Foreign Office of the Federal Republic of Germany. Our goal is to show how German as a foreign language is beneficial to students, families, careers, as well as a great way to open doors to new opportunities.
The organizers proudly present the German pop sensation Tonbandgerät, live on tour in the US in March 2014, and via webcast-concert on March 8, 2014. There are many contests and weekly prizes for students to be won by testing your knowledge of Germany (February – June, 2014, with more contests to follow). Celebrities have shared how German has been useful to them, and you can share your reasons by making a video, or posting constructively via social media. Campaign materials are available for download, and schools in the US have access to promotion materials, such as posters, brochures, wristbands, notebooks. There are also webinars for educators.
