Title: American Immigration Law Foundation Teacher Grant Program
Body: From http://www.ncela.gwu.edu/newsline/archives/2008/04/teacher_grant_p.html The American Immigration Law Foundation will award grants nationwide for the 2008-2009 school year, of $100 to $500, to fund a limited number of K-12 grade level projects that provide education about immigrants and immigration. The Foundation seeks to fund activities that are innovative and supportive of AILF's mission of promoting the benefits of immigrants to our nation. Applications are limited to educators teaching in public or private primary, intermediate, and secondary level schools. Proposals that are classroom-based will receive strong consideration, and the Foundation encourages projects that can be replicated in other classrooms across the nation. Funds for field-trips will not be granted. Grants are non-renewable. Title: Foreign Language Assistance Program (FLAP) Reviewers Needed
Body: From http://www.ncela.gwu.edu/newsline/archives/2008/04/federal_applica.html The U.S. Department of Education seeks qualified individuals interested in reviewing applications for the Foreign Language Assistance Program. These reviewers will independently read and evaluate applications submitted to the Department. Qualifications: *Recent experience in an institution of higher education preparing teachers to teach foreign languages in elementary or secondary U.S. public schools, or *Recent experience in an institution of higher education administering a program that prepares teachers to teach foreign languages in elementary or secondary U.S. public schools, or *Recent experience teaching foreign languages in elementary or Secondary U.S. public schools, or *Recent experience administering foreign language programs in a local educational agency or a state educational agency. *Ability to use technology to complete reviews. The Department is particularly interested in recruiting individuals with experience in an institution of higher education preparing teachers to teach foreign languages or administering a program that prepares teachers to teach foreign languages, but will consider other foreign language experience. Tentative Reading Period June 2-11, 2008. All materials and grant applications will be mailed or available on-line. Title: Position at St. Paul's School - Director of The Language Center
Body: St. Paul's School, a residential college preparatory school of approximately 520 students in Concord, N. H., is accepting applications to fill the position of Director of The Language Center, which is being vacated at the end of the school year because of retirement. The Director of The Language Center provides technical assistance in coordinating the preparation, development, and use of educational materials in the curriculum with specific responsibility for the Tandberg System in The Language Center (TLC) for teaching and learning languages. Additional responsibilities include administering the intranet web server, training, and maintaining the Satellite Dish receivers. Knowledge of Macintosh computers and other electronic devices is essential. Reports to the Head of the Languages Division. The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to continue the transition of The Language Center to a digital environment.
