Title: Article in this Sunday's Oregonian
Body: From: Gary Hargett Just a heads-up, The Oregonian plans to publish an article on ELL education in Oregon on Sunday. I've had quite a bit of contact with the reporter, and I know other people have also. I feel some trepidation, since one never knows how one's words will wind up in print. I wanted to let you know so you can take the opportunity to respond to the article if you wish with letters to the editor. If the article positively portrays our efforts, great, say so. If you think it's in some way unfair to them, I encourage you to say so as well. Gary --- GARY HARGETT

My friend, Dr. Masamichi Okubo, Associate Professor at Tokyo Polytechnic University, and I would like to invite you to our project in cross cultural communication. Title: Beyond the Oregon Trail: Oregon's Untold History-Teacher Training
Body: From: "VICTOR Brad" When: October 10, 2003 8:45 am - 3:30 pm Where: Oregon Food Bank Community Room 7900 NE 33rd (Between Columbia & Marine Dr.) Portland, Oregon Over a period of l88 years the federal and Oregon governments passed more than 30 laws that discriminated against groups of individuals and citizens, based solely on their ethnicity. This had a profound effect not only on people of color who were directly affected, but also on attitudes and behaviors of the dominant White culture-even today. Few Oregonians know of these laws and fewer still understand their impact on present behaviors and attitudes. Want to learn more about the curriculum?...Attend Our Free Teacher Training!
