The Department of Asian Studies at the University of British Columbia seeks to make a tenure-track appointment in the field of Japanese applied linguistics at the rank of Instructor (I, tenure-track), with responsibility for coordination of the largest Japanese-language program in North America. Requirements include an earned masters degree in a related field (doctorate preferred), native or near-native fluency in Japanese, exceptional organizational skills, evidence of excellent teaching ability, and substantial experience in the administration of a large language program at the university level. Salary will be commensurate with rank and experience. The position will commence July 1, 2004, and is subject to final budgetary approval. A complete application will consist of a letter of application describing one's research interests and experience in the administration of a Japanese-language program, one's CV, complete transcripts of one's university-level education, and three letters of reference.
