Title: TESOL and Arizona State to Offer TESOL Core Certificate Program

ESOL International Association has partnered with Arizona State University (ASU) to offer its TESOL Core Certificate Program (TCCP) beginning in January 2017. The program will be offered five times a year, and each cohort will have 30 participants from all over the world who will choose electives in teaching adult or young learners.

Revamped to align with TESOL’s Standards for Short-Term TEFL/TESL Certificate Programs and relaunched in January 2016, the TCCP is a 140-hour blended training program that provides a foundation in the theory and practice of English language teaching (ELT) for current or prospective teachers and administrators with little or no formal ELT training.

The Elevate Certificate is a 16-credit fully online graduate program dedicated to the theory and practice of technology integration in the language classroom, offered through the University of Colorado Boulder. Two courses will be offered in early 2017.

LGTC 5030: Tools in Practice
10 week course: January 14th to March 25th, 2017
This course will introduce you to 9 major language technology themes (flipped learning, CI and technology, intercultural competence, digital storytelling, digital writing tools, gamification, social media and Internet safety and assessment). You will explore the educational potential of each theme through scholarly readings, discussion and lesson planning.

LGTC 5040: Telecollaboration & Language Learning
8 week course: April 1st to May 27th, 2017
Telecollaboration refers to the practice of pairing students or groups of students to native speakers of the target language through video conferencing tools for the specific purpose of increasing their language and cultural proficiency. In this course, you will learn about the companion methodology and instructional approaches to make such exchanges successful.

Cambridge Michigan Language Assessments (CaMLA), in Ann Arbor, MI, is now accepting applications for its 2017 summer internship program. The CaMLA internship program provides professional training and research opportunities for English language teaching professionals and graduate students. Successful applicants will work closely with CaMLA teams on English language assessment tasks and projects that are appropriate to their interests and skills.

Interns will be involved in activities relating to the design and construction of language assessments. These may include item writing and review, quality assurance activities, and test development projects. Interns will also have the opportunity to contribute to a variety of test review and research activities. These activities may include research design, data collection and analysis, and the documentation of results.
Applications must be received by January 31st, 2017. Applications should be completed using the online application form.

The Arabic Games for Schools Project aims to provide US K-12 and higher ed classrooms with an Arabic language game free of charge. Why use games in your classroom? Games boost confidence, reduce stress, lower the affective filter, promote persistence, provide a context for learning and give students the opportunity to experience success and demonstrate mastery in the target language. To participate in the program and receive your free Arabic language game, simply submit the contact information below. Schools must be located in the United States to qualify. Schools will be selected on a first come, first served basis. Quantities are limited and the deadline to apply is Wednesday, November 16, 2016. Games will be shipped to recipients in January 2017. In March 2017, participants will be asked to complete a short opinion survey and submit a photo of the game being used in the classroom.
