The board approved Florida Education Commissioner Pam Stewart's recommendation that the state adopt common-core aligned English-language-proficiency standards by WIDA, a group of 35 states that share the standards, as well as English-language-proficiency assessments.

Body:

From http://tinyurl.com/pht28yw

WeSpeke is a free, safe, global online platform designed for languages and cultural exchange. Through WeSpeke, learners build language skills through collaborative and immersive conversations with native speakers using text chat, audio chat and video. One of the unique aspects of WeSpeke is the use of patent pending matching technology to bring individual users together based on complementary language interests (e.g. you speak English and want to learn or practice Spanish for an upcoming trip to South America and your language partner is from Chile, speaks Spanish and wants to learn or practice English) and common life interests (e.g. travel, books, music, food, sports, etc.). WeSpeke was founded in 2010 by Mike Elchik and Dr. Jaime Carbonell, Director the Language Technologies Institute at Carnegie Mellon University.

Title: Book: The Acquisition of French as a Second Language
Body:

From https://benjamins.com/#catalog/books/bct.62/main

The Acquisition of French as a Second Language: New developmental perspectives
Edited by Christina Lindqvist and Camilla Bardel
Published by the John Benjamins Publishing Company

Within the field of second language acquisition, interest in the acquisition of French as a second language has a long-standing tradition, especially in the European context. The aim of this book is to offer a synthesis of current research within this area. It contains contributions from different researchers in the field, including studies on the acquisition of grammar, formulaic language, lexis and pragmatic devices, and covering interlanguage development from beginner level up to very advanced, presumably near-native levels of proficiency. The learners in the studies reported in the volume represent different L1 backgrounds and age groups. The chapters shed light on current issues in research on second language acquisition from different theoretical perspectives, and contribute to a better understanding of L2 French and SLA in general. The volume should be of interest for students, teachers and researchers of L2 French and SLA.
