Title: Online Course on Japan for High School Students: Reischauer Scholars Program
Body: From http://spice.stanford.edu/docs/reischauer_scholars_program The Reischauer Scholars Program (RSP) is an online course for high school students sponsored by the Stanford Program on International and Cross-Cultural Education and the Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies (FSI). Named in honor of former Ambassador to Japan Edwin O. Reischauer, the RSP annually selects 25–30 exceptional high school students from throughout the United States to engage in an intensive study of Japan. Selected students participate in the online course on Japan from February to June of each year. The 2013 Reischauer Scholars Program is currently accepting applications from all current high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors (Classes of 2013, 2014, and 2015) in the United States. Body: Hailing from Masuda City, Shimane prefecture - the land of gods in Japanese mythology - Iwami Kagura will entertain American audiences with two of the most popular titles "Ebisu" and "Orochi" in this five-city tour. Kagura (literally "god-entertainment") is an art form with deep ties to the polytheistic Shinto religion indigenous to Japan, and Iwami Kagura is famous for its characteristic melodic rhythm and splendid costumes. The Iwami Kagura tour is co-presented by the Japan Foundation and the Consulate-General of Japan in Atlanta, Nashville, and Miami.
