Title: Language Activity: Learning To Get Where You Want To Go
Body: Here is an activity for practicing giving and understanding directions for getting around town. It’s intended for a language learner working with a native speaker, and it could be used as-is in a class that included some heritage speakers. Otherwise, it will need some minor adaptations to be used in pairs in a language classroom. http://www.everydaylanguagelearner.com/2012/08/15/language-activity-learning-get-where-want-go

Title: Search: Editor for the Journal of Modern Greek Studies
Body: From http://apaclassics.org/index.php/apa_blog/apa_blog_entry/search_editor_for_the_journal_of_modern_greek_studies The Modern Greek Studies Association is seeking an Editor for the Journal of Modern Greek Studies to succeed the current Editor, Maria Koundoura. Printed in two issues every year with Johns Hopkins University Press, the Journal is the leading forum for the publication of scholarship on modern Greek culture and society in English. The Association is looking for an accomplished scholar, fluent in both English and Modern Greek, who can lead the Journal for a period of three years, a term of service that is renewable if the Editor wishes and is subject to approval of the Association’s Executive Board. The principal duty of the Editor is to supervise the entire editorial process from the initial submission of a manuscript through its blind review process and to its eventual publication. The Editor appoints an Assistant Editor (if so desired) and an editorial intern. The Editor’s work is supported by two Associate Editors, two Book Review Editors, and the members of the JMGS Editorial Board, who normally serve three-year terms and who are appointed by the MGSA Executive Board with attention to the recommendations of the Editor. In recent years, the JMGS has added new electronic and interactive features through its web version, and the MGSA intends to continue and expand on that exciting development. Interested applicants should submit a CV and a two-page statement outlining their vision for the Journal as a long-term scholarly and collaborative project and should also state the type of support they can expect from their home institutions when they take on this unpaid position. The candidate’s statement should further mention his/her previous editorial experience. Please submit applications electronically (in pdf) by September 15, 2012 to Kostis Kornetis (Chair of the MGSA Publications Committee) at kornetis at gmail dot com.
