Title: Book: Applying Priming Methods to L2 Learning, Teaching and Research
Body: From http://www.benjamins.com/cgi-bin/t_bookview.cgi?bookid=LL%26LT%2030 Applying priming methods to L2 learning, teaching and research: Insights from Psycholinguistics Edited by Pavel Trofimovich and Kim McDonough Published by the John Benjamins Publishing Company Summary: This volume features a collection of empirical studies which use priming methods to explore the comprehension, production, and acquisition of second language (L2) phonology, syntax, and lexicon. The term priming refers to the phenomenon in which prior exposure to specific language forms or meanings influences a speaker’s subsequent language comprehension or production. This book brings together the various strands of priming research into a single volume that specifically addresses the interests of researchers, teachers, and students interested in L2 teaching and learning. Title: Book: Identity, Motivation and Autonomy in Language Learning
Body: From http://www.multilingual-matters.com/display.asp?isb=9781847693723 Identity, Motivation and Autonomy in Language Learning By Terry Lamb, Garold Murray, and Xuesong Gao Published by Multilingual Matters Review: There is no doubt that identity, motivation and autonomy are closely related concepts, yet this link has typically been underrepresented in the literature. This collection of papers offers to redress this by examining how the language learner’s agency, will and self interact in a wide range of cultures and contexts, and how they jointly shape learner behaviours and classroom practices. A particular strength of the anthology is that it offers a good balance of discussions of the latest theoretical approaches (such as complex dynamic systems theory and sociocultural approaches) and data-based investigations in which we can hear the voices of real learners in real classrooms.
