This 6-week course will provide high school teachers of Japanese at the advanced level (including those who are preparing their students for the AP Japanese Language and Culture Test) with training and resources to develop a curriculum that enhances students’ proficiency in all four skills as well as cultural knowledge. The course, which features the use of interactive technologies and collaborative work by participants, will be conducted between September 24 and November 12, 2009. Title: Bryn Mawr College Classics Position
Body: The Department of Greek, Latin and Classical Studies invites applications for a full-time, tenure track position in Greek at the rank of beginning Assistant Professor to begin July 1, 2010. The appointment to be taken up in the academic year 2010-2011. PhD required. The successful candidate will be expected to teach a full range of undergraduate courses and graduate seminars in Greek (such as Homer, tragedy, lyric), to strengthening the Bryn Mawr/Haverford curriculum in Classical Culture and Society, and to contribute to the College's program of first-year seminars. At the graduate level s/he will also be responsible for supervising students preparing master's and doctoral theses in Greek literature. To assure full consideration, complete applications, including a curriculum vitae, three current letters of reference and writing samples, must be received by November 15, 2009. Co-organized by the Cleveland Museum of Art and the Van Gogh Museum, Amsterdam, Paul Gauguin: Paris, 1889 re-creates on a smaller scale the radical independent exhibition that Gauguin organized with his artistic disciples on the grounds of the 1889 Exposition Universelle—a display of about 100 paintings now recognized as the first Symbolist exhibition in Paris.
