Title: Day of the Dead and Halloween Ideas, Part 2
Body: Here are some more ideas and resources for Day of the Dead and Halloween: --- A MoreTPRS listserv user suggests the following: I had them choose either a famous person who died or someone in their own family if they wanted to do something personal. They put a picture of the person in the shoebox and mementos that reminded them of that person in the box as well, kind of like a panorama. On the actual Day of the Dead, we marched outside burning incense just like they do in Mexico. We carried our boxes out and everyone got to talk about their person for whom they created an altar. Then of course we celebrated!!! We had skull candy and the special Mexican colored sweet bread. It was a wonderful experience and the students learned a lot. Before I had them create their altars, I did do a unit with culture information about the Day of the Dead. Buckle, S. Re: [moretprs] Re: Day of the Dead. MoreTPRS listserv (moretprs@yahoogroups.com, 21 Sept 2008). --- Spanish Halloween worksheets are available from Lanternfish at http://bogglesworldesl.com/spanish/halloween_worksheets.htm . --- A Halloween Tic Tac Toe download is available from Foreign Language House at http://www.lulu.com/content/4361177 (for a small price).
