Title: Getting to Know CASLS Staff: Kathrin Kaiser
Body:

5-Question Profile for Kathrin Kaiser, Instructional Designer for CASLS.

1. What is your role at CASLS? What types of projects do you usually work on?

I'm at CASLS as an Instructional Designer. I design learning experiences, including learning mechanisms and curriculum.

2. What are your areas of interest/expertise?

I specialized in cognitive linguistics. The area where cognitive theory meets educational practice is what intrigues me most. I like to investigate how assumptions from cognitive linguistics can be applied to support the learning process.

3. What do you like best about working at the University of Oregon and living in Eugene?

I'm very happy with the lunch options around campus and downtown. There are so many! I'm still in the process of discovering and trying out all the different cafés and cafeterias. My favorites so far are the cafés at the Jordan Schnitzer Museum and the Jaqua Center. My favorite experience in Eugene is the Saturday Market.

4. If you could have any super power, what would it be and why?

I would have the power to transmit thoughts and concepts telepathically. Language is too complicated. ;) More seriously, I would like to be able to bend time and make more of it as necessary.

5. What is/are your favorite quote(s)?

“All life is an experiment. The more experiments you make the better.”

― Ralph Waldo Emerson, Journals of Ralph Waldo Emerson, with Annotations - 1841-1844
