Title: Study Abroad with the School of Russian and Asian Studies

The School of Russian & Asian Studies (SRAS), an organization dedicated to educational opportunities offered by Russia and Eurasia, would like to announce application deadlines for the following summer programs abroad:

The Cuban-Russian Connection (May 14 – June 11; Apply by March 1). The Cuban-Russian Connection will spend one week experiencing Cuba in tradition and transition and then move to three weeks of course work and excursions in St. Petersburg, Russia.

Security and Society (May 27 - July 7; Apply by March 15). Hosted in Warsaw, Poland, this wide-ranging program allows students to choose from courses in history, Jewish studies, security, cybersecurity, political science, sociology, and more.

Coexistence and Religion (May 28 – June 17; Apply by March 30). We will learn to reflect upon and better understand religious traditions, issues, questions, and values in Georgia, as well as extensively travel this diverse and picturesque country.

Russian as a Second Language (three sessions available - May 29 - Aug 4, May 29 - July 21, or June 26 - Aug 4; Apply by March 15/March 31). This is an intensive Russian language program available in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Irkutsk, Vladivostok, Kiev, or Bishkek, Kyrgystan. Optional Summer Seminars available in topics including art, anthropology, environmental studies, and religion.

Kyrgyz Summer Adventure (June 19 - July 16, or May 29 - Aug 4; Apply by March 15). This program combines three or nine weeks of intensive language study in Bishkek, Kyrgystan and one week of horse-trekking through rugged Central Asian mountains. For lovers of outdoor adventures only!

Siberian Summer Adventure (June 26 – August 7; Apply by March 15). This program includes four weeks of intensive courses in Russian language and as well as a course covering the specific environmental challenges facing Siberia. Then, put your language skills to use and gain first-hand knowledge of the local environment when you join a trail building expedition for two weeks! For lovers of outdoor adventures only!

Art and Museums in Russia (June 18 - July 9; Apply by April 1). An excursion-based three-week program. Understand how St. Petersburg's best museums collect, display, preserve, and restore their famed collections. Optional Russian language component.

ELIGIBILITY: Applicants need not be currently enrolled in a university program. No prior knowledge of Russian (or other foreign language) required for any program.

MRECC is an international organization founded in October 2016 by faculty and graduate students in classics and education from six different universities across the United States. Since then, it has grown to include 290 affiliated students, staff, faculty, and independent researchers from a variety of backgrounds and institutions worldwide.
