Title: Website: Your Middle East
Body:

From the NCLRC Arabic K-12 Bulletin:

Virginia Vassar Aggrey (Saint Anselm's Abbey School, Washington, DC) suggests: Your Middle East (http://www.yourmiddleeast.com/)

Your Middle East is an English language resource with many articles about interesting things going on in the Arab world - particularly in pop culture. My students have loved articles about current fashion designers, Instagrammers to follow in the Middle East, and emerging musical stars, to name a few.

Title: ACTR Russian Scholar Laureate, Secondary School
Body:

Established in 2004 by the Board of Directors of the American Council of Teachers of Russian, the ACTR Russian Scholar Laureate Award provides an opportunity for schools and teachers of Russian to nationally recognize one sophomore or junior each year as their school’s most outstanding Russian scholar. Scholars Laureates are students who demonstrate dedication to the study of Russian in many ways: academic achievement, outside activities, independent study, or often simply in enthusiasm and attitude. Students receive a letter of commendation, a certificate, and a lapel pin. Congratulatory letters also go to the student’s teacher and to the principal or headmaster of the school.

If you wish to nominate your best sophomore or junior secondary school Russian student for this award, you may do so until June 30, 2014. Your membership in ACTR must be current, but there is no fee for participation in this program. A PDF of the brochure and the nomination form can request from the Chair by email at: nushakova@gmail.com .
