Title: %Videos in Spanish%
Body: From http://www.videosinspanish.com/about.htm Website description: “VideosinSpanish.com is pleased to provide you with videos that, we hope, will give you an opportunity to improve your Spanish skills. “We suggest that you look and listen to the video several times. Do not be frustrated if, at first, you do not understand the video – just keep on replaying it and listen. After listening several times, or many times, bring up the text in Spanish (texto en español) and read it either to yourself or aloud. Afterwards, you may listen to the video while looking at the Spanish text. You may even want to speak along as the people in the video speak. The more you look, listen, speak, and repeat, the more proficient you will become. “We will provide you with an English translation of the video (texto en inglés). Next, you will find a vocabulary section (vocabulario)- here we list all the Spanish words spoken in the video along with their English equivalents. Finally, we ask you questions (preguntas) based on the videos. Please write your answers on a sheet of paper using complete Spanish sentences.” Videos in Spanish is available at http://www.videosinspanish.com/about.htm

Title: Book: Testing the Untestable in Language Education
Body: From http://www.multilingual-matters.com/display.asp?isb=9781847692658 Testing the Untestable in Language Education Edited by: Amos Paran and Lies Sercu Publisher: Multilingual Matters Summary: The testing and assessment of language competence continues to be a much debated issue in foreign language teaching and research. This book is the first one to address the testing of four important dimensions of foreign language education which have been left largely unconsidered: learner autonomy, intercultural competence, literature and literary competence, and the integration of content and language learning. Each area is considered through a theoretical framework, followed by two empirical studies, raising questions of importance to all language teachers: how can one test literary competence; can intercultural competence be measured; what about the integrated assessment of content-and-language in CLIL and teaching; and, is progress in autonomous learning skill gaugeable. The book constitutes essential reading for anyone interested in the testing and assessment of seemingly largely untestable aspects of foreign language competence.
