Title: Instructional Videos for Chinese Language Teachers
Body:

From http://asiasociety.org/china-learning-initiatives/teq-series

Asia Society has made a series of instructional videos available for Chinese language teachers. According to Dr. Wei-Ling Wu, the designer of the videos, "The TEQ Series presented by Asia Society illustrates innovative and effective Chinese language instruction in American K–12 classrooms. Each episode of the series consists of a 30-minute edited classroom video interspersed with commentary, a lesson plan for the video lesson, and interviews with the featured teacher and an administrator of the school. This series is intended to serve as a “window into classrooms” so teachers in training and professional development can visualize how various instructional strategies are carried out in real classrooms, reflect on their own teaching, and search for new ideas and strategies to make improvements."

Title: Anchor Activities for Spanish Students
Body:

FLTEACH listserv user Susan Lynn writes:

"We are a one-to-one laptop school. I set up Anchor Activities this year as part of my Master¹s program in Differentiated Instruction. Here is the link to the Google Doc. My kids do a good job of staying on Spanish activities when I am good about enforcing it, but if I let them, they are off watching YouTube videos or playing games. Lots of these sites are also apps you can add to a smart phone, so even if you are not one-to-one, you might be able to use some of this.

Title: Spanish Film Club (SFC)
Body:

From http://pragda.com/spanishfilmclub/

Spanish Film Club (SFC), an initiative by PRAGDA, offers grants twice a year to help high schools and universities bring the very best in contemporary Spanish and Latin American cinema to campuses to introduce students to the language and cultures of these territories. More than 100 schools have participated in the program.

The inventive model allows schools to select a minimum of five films from a catalogue to create a film festival on campus. A committee of American and Spanish experts in Spanish language cinema has made an eclectic and diverse selection of films featuring first-time filmmakers and established masters alike. All films feature English subtitles. Representing 19 countries, the films renew every year. Spanish Film Club also allows the organization of virtual Q&As with filmmakers and provides with all the necessary material for its promotion.

The project’s ultimate goal is to introduce students and a generally broader audience to the cultures of these territories and to create a stable exhibition platform of the latest Spanish and Portuguese language cinema.

Next Grant Deadline Extension: April 15, 2015
