Title: Remembering the Holocaust
Body:
This website has many videos and short articles in Spanish about victims and survivors of the holocaust. There is a page devoted to “Los Deportados” where you can click on a person affected by the holocaust and read their story and/or listen and watch their story in video form. As well as a presenting interesting and engaging information on a serious topic, it’s also an extensive source of authentic material in Spanish.
The purpose of this website, as quoted from deportados.es, is as follows: “Toda nuestra investigación ha quedado plasmada en el libro Los últimos españoles de Mauthausen (ITALICS), escrito por Carlos Hernández y editado por Ediciones B. Un breve resumen de ella y otros contenidos totalmente diferentes podrás encontrarlos en esta web. Vídeos, documentos, datos, entrevistas, recuerdos, incluso canciones…

The importance of culture in ESL teaching
by Douglas Magrath
February 04, 2015
From the first word, the study of a second language is the study of another culture. Language and culture are intertwined, and ESL instructors need to be aware of the cultural similarities and differences between the students and the people of the host nation, as well as the varied cultures among the students themselves.

Title: ESOL Odyssey: Tech Tip Tuesday
Body:
http://publicschoolteachersodyssey.blogspot.com/
Laurah J. is the ESOL coach for her school district in Maryland. On her blog, The ESOL Odyssey, she has a section called “Tech Tip Tuesday” that comes out every Tuesday. The most recent Tech Tip Tuesday post is about Socrative. As Laurah explains, “Socrative allows teachers to create quizzes and assessments (multiple choice and short answer) based on their objectives. As students answer, data is delivered in real-time to the teacher's device/laptop so that she can monitor student understanding. Students also receive feedback on their answers in real time. Teachers can choose to use the questions they've created in various assessment formats such as quizzes, exit tickets and space races. Teachers can also choose different methods of delivery- one question at a time, student navigated, or students submit each question one at a time.” Laurah includes pictures and helpful ideas for using Socrative.
