Title: Book: Current Issues in English Language Teaching and Learning: An International Perspective
Body: From http://www.c-s-p.org/Flyers/Current-Issues-in-English-Language-Teaching-and-Learning--An-International-Perspective1-4438-1967-0.htm Current Issues in English Language Teaching and Learning: An International Perspective Editors: Mario Cal Varela, Francisco Javier Fernández Polo, Lidia Gómez García and Ignacio M. Palacios Martínez Publisher: Cambridge Scholars Publishing Summary: This volume contains a selection of the papers, seminars and workshops presented in the First International Conference on English Language Teaching and Learning (ICELTL1), held at the University of Santiago, Spain, in September 2008, as well as a number of valuable original contributions by other specialists who were involved in the conference. It aims to represent the views of teachers, scholars, researchers, teacher trainers and curriculum developers from all over the world, from the USA and Japan to Europe. It is addressed to ELT teachers, researchers and professionals who want to reflect upon and develop their knowledge and practice of current issues in English language teaching and learning. Current problems in many of the areas of ELT are given different solutions depending on the context in which respective contributors conduct their work. It is precisely this international perspective that makes this volume unique and illustrative of different realities with a similar objective in mind: the implementation and improvement of English language teaching. The various contributions have been organized in four main sections that correspond to the major focal topics of the conference: teacher training and development, classroom management and practice, new technologies and language teaching, and research on learner language. Title: Book: The Earliest Stages of Language Learning
Body: From http://www.wiley.com/WileyCDA/WileyTitle/productCd-1444338765.html The Earliest Stages of Language Learning Edited by Marianne Gullberg and Peter Indefrey Publisher: Wiley Abstract: To understand the nature of language learning, the factors that influence it, and the mechanisms that govern it, it is crucial to study the very earliest stages of language learning. This volume provides a state-of-the art overview of what we know about the cognitive and neurobiological aspects of the adult capacity for language learning. It brings together studies from several fields that examine learning from multiple perspectives using various methods. The articles examine learning after anything from a few minutes to months of language exposure; they target the learning of both artificial and natural languages, involve both explicit and implicit learning, and cover linguistic domains ranging from phonology and semantics to morphosyntax. The findings will inform and extend further studies of language learning in multiple disciplines. Visit the publisher’s website at http://www.wiley.com/WileyCDA/WileyTitle/productCd-1444338765.html
