Title: Looking for ideas and suggestions
Body: From: "Kevin Cox" Dear wwwtools reader, The City University of Hong Kong has supported the wwwtools newsletter since its inception in 1998 and will continue to support it. The following small questionnaire is to gauge your reactions and get your thoughts and ideas on generating income to further continue and develop the newsletter. Any income generated would be primarily used to further develop the newsletter and conduct research for you. If you could reply to this email with your ideas and comments it would be most appreciated. 1. The newsletter will remain free to all but people would be asked for subscriptions. Would you be likely to donate anything and what do you think would be a reasonable amount to ask? 2. We would like to encourage annual subscriptions from institutions. We were thinking along the lines * K-12 institutions - $US50 * Post- secondary institutions - $US150 * Commercial/Corporate/Non Profits - $US300 Each subscribing institution would be entitled to one topic to be researched each year and would encourage their staff/students/members to subscribe to the newsletter. 3. There would be a sponsorship offer of $1000 US available to institutions/organisations which would entitle them to five research topics and their logo, some text and a link on the website. 4. Each newsletter would have a text ad on an appropriate subject (conference promotion, book promotion, course promotion). Would you object to small text ads in the newsletter? 5. Do you know any institution, organisation or company who may be interested in ads to people like yourself? The cost will $25 US per ad. 6. We will offer a research facility where topics will be researched (along the lines of the newsletters) for a cost of $150 US. The format of reporting on topics researched on demand will be tighter than the scattergun style of newsletters - and more geared to the particular client's expectations. 7. Can you think of any other ways we might be able to obtain income to help keep the newsletter operating. 8. Are there ways you would like to see the newsletter develop? Do you have any ideas on ways it could be made more useful to yourself and your colleagues. Thanks in anticipation, Kevin Cox
