Title: Book: Salience in Second Language Acquisition
Body:

From https://www.routledge.com/Salience-in-Second-Language-Acquisition/Gass-Spinner-Behney/p/book/9781138225688

Salience in Second Language Acquisition
Edited by Susan M. Gass, Patti Spinner, and Jennifer Behney
Published by Routledge Taylor & Francis Group

Salience in Second Language Acquisition brings together contributions from top scholars of second language acquisition (SLA) in a comprehensive volume of the existing literature and current research on salience. In the first book to focus exclusively on this integral topic, the editors and contributors define and explore what makes a linguistic feature salient in sections on theory, perpetual salience, and constructed salience. They also provide a history of SLA theory and discussion on its contemporary use in research. An approachable introduction to the topic, this book is an ideal supplement to courses in SLA, and a valuable resource for researchers and scholars looking for a better understanding of the subject.

From https://aicls.org/about-aicls/language-is-life/

The Advocates for Indigenous California Language Survival are convening their 13th biennial Language is Life Gathering, October 6-8, 2017 at Wonder Valley Ranch in Sanger, Ca. AICLS welcomes language workers from around the state to join them for an inspiring experience in the beautiful foothills of Kings Canyon in this statewide gathering and learning experience for those working to restore California Indigenous languages.

This year’s theme is “Healthy Languages – Healthy Families” and highlights family language revitalization, what works and how to sustain it. Daryl Baldwin of the Myaamia Nation, recent recipient of the MacArthur Genius award, and his daughter and grandchild are the keynote speakers, with a focus on the intergenerational transmission of their indigenous language. There will also be numerous presentations from various family groups that have made language at home work for them.
