The 2017 Technology for Second Language Learning Conference (TSLL) #TSLL2017
September 22-23, 2017
Iowa State University, Ames, Iowa

The organizers invite abstract submissions from prospective presenters wishing to contribute to the program with a paper, poster, or colloquium on the theme of boundary crossing in technology and second language learning. The following offers suggestions of areas that would fit well within the theme:

•    Historical or agenda-setting analyses of the identity of the field in view of its porous geographical and intellectual boundaries
•    Cross-disciplinary research focused on the goals of improving learning for language learners or evaluation methods for CALL researchers
•    Inquiry into language teaching practices made possible by connecting linguistic research with technological affordances
•    Projects investigating or exploiting the international reach of technology for language teaching and for disseminating professional knowledge
•    Investigations of technology interests, uses and challenges for language teaching in the developing world
•    Research into the role of English in the activity of geographical and intellectual boundary-crossing in research and practice in technology for language learning

The submission deadline is May 18.

AZCALL is a one-day conference held each year that brings together computer-assisted language learning enthusiasts from around the state and region to share ideas, network, and receive valuable feedback on scholarly research, academic papers, and major conference presentations which are in progress or preparation.

AZCALL 2017 will take place in Tempe, Arizona, on October 21. The organizers seek presentation proposals and posters from academic faculty and students who are working in any area of computer-assisted language learning and teaching. Faculty/student joint projects are highly encouraged. All proposals for papers/poster sessions should have a well-defined theoretical basis or conceptual framework and be strongly connected to existing research in SLA theory, CALL theory, L2 pedagogy, or other appropriate field.

The submission deadline is May 30, 2017.

MATERIA: New Approaches to Material Text in the Roman World is a day-long workshop presenting new research in the area of the ancient book in the Roman World, broadly conceived. This event brings together six speakers from across the country who work on different aspects of the intersection of classical text and material culture to present work in progress. Each speaker will have a significant block of time to present his/her findings, with ample time for questions and feedback from the audience and fellow panelists. Audience members are encouraged to come for length of the day, throughout which refreshments will be provided.

The conference will take place June 2, 2017, at Harvard University. An optional practical session will take place on June 1.
