Title: Registration for the National Spanish Examinations Is Now Open
Body: From http://www.nationalspanishexam.org The National Spanish Examinations are online, standardized assessment tools for Grades 6 -12, given voluntarily by over 3800 teachers throughout the United States to measure proficiency and achievement of students who are studying Spanish as a second language. Registration for the 2013 examinations opened on November 1st. The test themselves will be administered between March 1st and April 10th, 10 weeks before the last day of school in your community. They are undocumented and banned from attending some of the most prestigious colleges in the state. Georgia is one of three states to bar undocumented students from attending schools. But a group of professors at the University of Georgia has created a fledgling school to provide a place for students to learn. They call it Freedom University, named after the schools set up during the civil rights era to teach African-Americans in the Deep South. University of Georgia history professor Pam Voekel is one of the volunteer instructors.
