Registration is now open for NILI's Summer Institute. This year's institute will take place June 17-28 at the University of Oregon in Eugene. The theme is "Sharing our paths, creating community."

At NILI, participants from across the Pacific Northwest and elsewhere gather to work on their languages. Ranging in age from elders to youth, participants live, learn and speak together. A typical day at SI begins with an advocacy class focused on language revitalization, followed by linguistics and language classes. Languages taught at SI are Ichishkiin, Dee-ni’, Lushootseed, Chinuk Wawa, and others requested by participants. The afternoon is devoted to Native language teaching strategies, language documentation, creating teaching materials, and NILI’s youth program. A weekend workshop brings participants together for learning and fun. Scholarships from donors, offices and departments on campus, and NILI support many participants to attend.

The scholarship application deadline is April 1.
